Compassion Creations' Story

Insight into the inspiration for my vegan art shop.

My journey with veganism

It's all thanks to my best furry friend, Wilson.

First meeting her and Princess, a small black goat at a summer job at a farm in 2016, she immediately captured my heart. Little did this pygmy and teenage meat-loving me know, our lives were about to grow and change forever.

Laying the foundation

Now a freshman in high school, imagine my surprise walking in and noticing the Future Farmers of America (FFA) small animal enclosure, with those bright golden eyes staring back at me! It's Wilson!! as well as her bestie, Princess! She was being temporarily boarded at said farm over the summer.

Planting the seed

All my life I grew up around pets, but something was so different. Getting a chance to interact with what we typically consider "livestock" - she was playful and loving, just like my dogs at home. I thought, "How could I love one, but eat the other?" I went vegetarian, 2 years later, vegan.

The push for growth

Sadly, it had become apparent that the FFA program at my school was not taking care of these animals. Princess became pregnant by a buck named Old Spice who was introduced into the already cramped pen, and I was constantly refilling water and giving food after school.

For those unaware, the FFA program raises animals for education, then they are sent off for slaughter. These goats became my friends, they did not deserve to suffer such a horrible fate, nor does any animal.

Time for change

With the help of a local dog boarding service, animal control, and the owner of a cat rescue, it was time to act.
We managed to safely secure ownership of Princess, Wilson, Pecan, and Viola. It was off to their new forever home!
To our (somewhat) surprise, Princess and her 2 kids were pregnant! Bringing the goat total to 9.

Safe & sound!
